Tree Grants to Partners: Grants of $200 were offered to Oak Partners for planting a tree to celebrate Arbor Day or Earth Day.    MCCFC Members

Sutch Park in Richland: MCCFC members; Rose Ann Tucker, Kadlec Foundation Board representative; Jim Hall, Kadlec Community Relations Director; Richland Park Commissioners and Director, Richland City staff people, and several Rotary members discussed possible future plans for the area.  Two members agreed to serve on the Sutch Park Planning Committee.    MCCFC Members, Howard Madsen, Earl Miller

Richland Grant Support: The council sent a letter of support for City of Richland’s “Urban Forest Inventory and Master Tree Plan” grant application.    Earl Miller, Marianne Ophardt, Howard Madsen

April, May, June 2000

Arbor Day Earth Day: A Northern Red Oak donated by the MCCFC and a Burr Oak donated by Job’s Nursery were planted in Oak Park in Richland.  On National Arbor Day, four trees were planted at the Playground of Dreams.  These were donated by the Basin Bloomers Garden Club, the MCCFC, and Job’s Nursery.     MCCFC Members, esp. Earth Day: Two Callery pears were planted in Howard Amon Park with the Girl Scouts.     Terry Deines, Howard Madsen, Marianne Ophardt

 Growing With Trees Tree Grants: Two schools with teachers who participated in the Growing With Trees Workshop in October, 1999 applied for tree grants.  Sunset View Elementary School and Amistad View Elementary School each received a tree and assistance with planting it.    Earl Miller, Duane Job

July, August, September 2000

Entered into an agreement with DNR Urban Forestry to promote urban forestry in the Mid-Columbia region.  DNR will provide $15,000 for the promotion program.  MCCFC
